Designed to immortalise moments or the image of some outstanding personalities, the monuments and busts met in Tășnad make for a particular group of tourist attractions. They emphasize in a particular way, the preoccupation of the community to honour its personalities and ascendance moments through their perpetuation by means of art. In the same category are also comprised the busts and commemorative plaques displaying images of some personalities with origins in the area. Although of static nature, they represent a living past full of worthy acts of some outstanding personalities.

Located in the very centre of the town, as if watching over it from above, it provides the occasion to recall the local history, with all the vicissitudes, losses but also its secular victories.

Bíró Lajos (born in 1856, at Tășnad – died in 1931) was a Hungarian zoologist. Due to his passion for nature and his contribution brought to natural sciences, in 1926, at the University of Szeged, he was awarded the title of Doctor of Natural Sciences.
